Let me point out some misnomers in this thread by those trying to discourage alien abduction protection:
I had a bogus abduction experience in my bedroom. Surrounded by bright light and paralyzed-floating in the air like the Travis Walton case. Nothing you do can stop them.
In reality, many people have a UFO experience and are frightened before an abduction. They actually observe a craft and or occupants approach them. Not only that but in most cases it's not a one time thing.
What this means is an abductee could try and protect themself from an abduction when it happens.
The word tin foil hat was used repeatedly by a person in this thread trying to discourage alien abduction protection.
Shielding the head or brain is actually not that crazy because that is what is being targeted in order for the aliens to immobilize a human specimen or their prey. I suggest material similar to a lead apron because it's strong enough to shield against harmful radiation. What you are trying to do is block any signal that is directed at your cranium. You see the human skull protects your brain but it may not protect you from say a microwave signal.
Another misnomer: Aliens are Gods.
Actually these being just don't snap their fingers to get here but use a craft. Some occupants are reported using a hand held device. Someone mentioned armor. Well a type of high-tech armor is reported on the praying mantis looking aliens. Some occupants are observed wearing a helmet and visor. So the ETs themself wear protection.
The abductions are cordinated. They pick an opportune time to conduct an abduction like a predator stocking its prey. It usually takes a group effort with the leader staying on board the craft.

How many abductees have reportedly suffered harmful radiation exposure...burns? Why would using materials that are useful for shielding nuclear radiation exposure prevent abduction?

I tried a Faraday Cage which was designed and constructed by a multiple Ph.D. RF scientist, he was my adjacent office colleague at EG&G Defense Systems. We called it the 'Screen-Room'. It filtered everything in the electromagnetic spectrum from slightly above DC all the way up to 300 GHz. It provided no remedy. What ever ET is using, its not EMF technology in the range that we control.

The reason folks presume that the alien signal is microwave, is due to the nature of electromagnetic waves, speculative reasoning by the uninformed and a-fortiori lots of guessing. One of the known exhibited behaviors of the alien activities affiliated with alien mind-meddling is that of selectivity. A classic example for instance: an individual is retiring with their mate in the same bed, one is being fiddled with, while the other is not. To effect that activity requires specific target selectivity. Using electromagnetic waves, would require multiple things,
1) relatively high-power to pass through the walls/ceilings especially if the transmitter is located any distance from the subject,
2) the electromagnetic wavelength must be short, to enable selective directivity, eg, 'beam' aiming,
3) the electromagnetic wavelength must be sufficiently short to be able to pin-point one sleeper, but not affect the other sleeper, a mere few inches distance, without any bleed-over.
However there are problems with the overall notion, the major problem, is that there is no known pattern of microwave modulation that causes the effects reported to exist in ET mind-meddling experiences, such as paralysis, or blinding light, sensation of floating in the air, etc., and at any power-level.
Then there is the problem of where the transmitter could be located. Microwaves, as do all electromagnetic waves, spread with distance, even, MASER waves do. If, microwave could be modulated to effect where could it be located? Close enough that the beam won't spread too much, far enough so that its not easily see-able, while it need be, apparently, present during the entire event. The notion is fairytale from a physics perspective.
The presumption that lay folks make is that its advanced alien technology that Humans don't know about, science-fiction stuff, Hollywood style. However, Humans are expert in microwave technology, we invented it and we have been using for a really long time, and we also know, that high-power microwaves, when directed at tissue, cooks it.
Its not microwave, and its not light, because light does not pass through walls or ceilings and in any case, the same modulation problem applies.

In practice, very few people know anything about alien activity in advance of the activity they don't want us to know. However, I've heard stories from my friends who claim that they knew in advance that they were going to be abducted, but had no idea how to stop it. Interestingly, most of these people actually did not seem to be overtly worried or upset at the thought as it seems, that they had come to realize, that they typically were uninjured during the events, or at least resigned to the realization that when it was all over, it did not hurt that much or leave lasting injuries. One gal I knew fairly well, (wrote articles for Bill Birn's UFO Magazine), was physically abducted, impregnated, developed a fetus that was taken in the third tri-mester. In subsequent abductions, she was brought into contact with her child at various junctures during its development, she was informed that the child needed Human contact to properly develop.. She tried everything to stop the abductions, including tin-foil hats.
While it is my experiential opinion, that the brain is often an element of interest in alien activities with Humans, it is not that the principal interest or the only focus of interest in alien abduction. While experiencers do seem to intuit that they need to shield the head, one should not presume that the brain is the target.
I could go into more details, but I want to hear folks opinions as to what is thought to be targeted, because that is the subject of shielding, not the location of the shield. Once one understands the target, then one **may** be enabled to devise effective counter-measures or establish a starting point for the development of a counter-measure. Instead of just wildly guessing about things based entirely on erroneous logic and guessing.

I used the phrase "tin-foil hat" among others, while I believe that that strategy does provide a modicum of remedy for certain types of mind-meddling, while tin-foil hats and other similar 'shields' provide no deterrence for abductions in my opinion. You, as many other people are confused about this matter. Abduction is the action of moving a physical body from one location to another. Mind-meddling/re-neuro-mapping and Life-Power harvesting is not abduction, as the physical body is not relocated during the alien activity.
In any case, lead shielding provides no deterrence for either type of activity.
