It was 1960 or 61, I don't remember. I was in the Caribbean, on Puerto Rico, outside a town called Mayaguez, in a little area known as Guanajibo homes, (since blown away by hurricanes) on the edge of a swamp . Our house was there. It was so cool...I used to hunt large blue land crabs there during a full moon, coaxing them out of their burrows with a coat hanger. I sweetened them up on corn for a couple of weeks and they were a tasty ingredient in our rice.
Although the trade winds were blowing, it was a cloudy night, about 9 PM. I was walking my dog and stopped at the very edge of the development under a lone, and the the last, streetlight.
She was an intelligent dog. Really. She seemed more like a child than a dog most of the time. She began looking up, barking. I stepped out from under the glare of the streetlight and looked UP too. I saw a triangular, bright metallic object with portholes disappearing behind the clouds! It was so "standard" that I doubted it. But I know what I saw. It was real.
I ran inside and told my parents what I had seen. They were mildly amused but empathetic.
Time passes.
Cut to 1993..about 32 years later. I was at my Mom's house on a trip, when the TV was playing a show on aviation. They were showing the actual UFO I saw in Puerto Rico! It turned out to be a secret prototype flown by Northrop Aviation out of Arecibo, Puerto Rico in 1961. I wasn't crazy after all. I'm very tall, and when I jumped up, I hit my head on the ceiling! My Mom confirmed my observation, because I had drawn what I saw for her in 1961. Needless to say, we were both happy. Deja vu, no?
When we arrived back in the 'States in 1962, I was in Edgewater, NJ, atop the roof of an apartment building, helping my Mom hang out some clothes. I happened to notice something flying along the edge of the Palisades. It was 5 or-so metallic orbs bobbing along the cliffs. They were heading North. After 3 or 4 seconds or so, they sped up and headed due East, at a terrific rate of speed, at a right angle, out of sight.
