This sighting happened quite a few years ago, but I just couldn't bring myself to share it openly, after seeing how close friends and family reacted. I've been trying to track down the person who shared the event with me, as we lost contact years ago after a bit of a falling out. We both shared the experience and may even have different views of the details, which is why I was going to wait to post this. Should I contact him, I'll see what he remembers and if he's willing to share it. Regardless, I need to share it for my own peace of mind. I've heard of many UFO sightings over the years, but none that resembled this one.
The sighting took place in Ohio, near Troy, if memory serves. The year would be a bit of a guess, so until I contact my friend, lets go with late 90's He may remember better, the exact year and location, as it was on his property. We had gone there to clear some of the land of trees and brush. When it became too dark to work safely, he set fire to the very large pile we had thrown together. It was quite a large fire, and after starting it, he questioned the wisdom of starting such a large fire.
Earlier that day we had done some shooting, with my scoped .22 rifle. The scope came in handy a bit later. As we admired the epic blaze that he had started, my gaze was drawn to a bright star in the sky. At first I thought "north star", as it was easily the biggest and brightest object in the sky, but it couldn't be. I turned my full attention to it, and wondered if perhaps I was missing some astrological event or something. My friend noticed I was staring at the "star" and not his epic blaze, and asked why. I told him something just wasn't right, and that I wasn't sure what that bright spot was. He came back with the expected star or planet guess. As we both looked on, the object appeared to move slightly. I asked if he saw that, and he stated that the fire might be causing the effect. We were well away from the fire, and the movements weren't constant. So I decided to scope the object with my .22 rifle. I threw a 12 power scope on it just for plinking, but it was enough!
Braced against his truck for stability, I tried to acquire the object to get a better look at it. I found it easily enough, and focused the scope for a better look. It never appeared to be more than a ball of bright light. Trying to get a better look at it made one thing perfectly clear. It WAS moving! I couldn't keep it in the sights for more than a few seconds before losing it. When it moved, it's movements were sharp and very quick, with sudden starts and stops. Its movements were almost always in the shape of a smile, only changing in size every few movements. I had my friend scope the object, but he gave up after a few minutes with the same complaint, that he couldn't keep it in the field of view. We put the gun in the bed of the truck and just watched the object, giving up on the scope as useless.
We discussed what real world objects we thought it might be. He questioned me on the possibility of the object being military, since I was Army myself. I told him I had no idea what all we had, but that nothing I was aware we had, could move like that object was moving. Since I couldn't see the object clearly enough, and only viewed a slightly larger orb of light in the scope, I couldn't even guess at an altitude. Through the entire event, there was no noise from the object. Its movements got more pronounced, and it was very clear, that this was no man made object. This thing changed direction like a super ball hitting the floor, wall and ceiling, in rapid succession! We were speechless. I finally got out "we've got NOTHING, that can do THAT!". He agreed. I'm not sure how long we watched the object, but I remember my neck hurt and I didn't care! I felt like I was watching history or something, and I get chills recalling the event.
More time passed, as we watched the object move about the sky, still making what looked like different sized smile movements. That in itself was amazing to behold. Little did I know, that my friend and I were seconds away from something we never in our lives expected. The object suddenly stopped moving completely..... then preformed a perfect triangle in the sky, so rapidly that it left the image in your eye, ( picture drawing a shape in the night, with a sparkler ) before shooting off at a rough 45 degree angle of ascent and slightly back away from us.... so fast, that it was totally gone in less than a second. The triangle also took well less than a second to complete. Without an altitude, I can't even begin to guess at the distance traveled, or the speed required to do what it did. The only visual reference I can give is this. Make a triangle using your thumbs and forefingers. Now hold it as far away from your body as your arms will allow and hold it up towards the sky. That is the approximate size of the triangle it "drew" in the sky before leaving. I asked my friend what he saw, and he confirmed the event.
It wasn't until months later, while surfing on the net, that something caught my eye. I don't even remember the site or what I was searching. I do however, remember what I found. The triangle, is the ancient symbol for fire! Keeping in mind that we had a rather large fire going, ( maybe 6-8 ft high, 8-12 ft wide and maybe 20+ ft long? ) in a rough straight line. Was the objects action, in creating the triangle in the sky, a type of acknowledgment of some kind, or an attempt at communication? Perhaps just saying it saw our fire? Maybe it hung around as long as it did, because it saw the fire, and was waiting to see if perhaps our blazing shape in the night, was an attempt at communication on our part? To this day I have no idea, but that night and the events that unfolded, will be with me forever.
I have no doubt in what I saw. I've never seen anything like it since, nor am I anxious to! Whatever it was, it made something very clear. .....it is vastly ahead of us!
