The date of the first atomic weapon test in New Mexico was in July 16th 1945. You are the United States, an emergent superpower, as the Second World War had just ended. You now have the capability to destroy entire metropolises. Your task is now to ensure the protection of your citizens, by ensuring that other powers do not gain access to the superior technology, and implement effective early warning systems for the possibility that it should ever fall into the wrong hands. You consult your advisers, and one of them consults with the idea of using the populace as part of a greater overall warning system. Another factor is that the 40s were not the roaring 20s. Having came out of the great depression, the American psyche needed to believe in a better future. America needed Roswell.

I'm with you on the basic analysis, but it's a bit unclear how Roswell plays into it. Elaborate?

A confirmed experimental testing site, it provided a nucleus of sight-culture in the Western U.S. The sheer empirical potential for an inter-continental ballistic missile site of origin was higher off the coast of western U.S. than eastern. We weren't worried about Germany nuking us as we bombed their French located missile bases intended to target U.K. We were worried about the post Russian revolution, and the ability for Russians to read was perceived to be more dangerous.

I believe in the gist of what you are implying but our activity was actually sparking the concern/intersest of ETI. That would explain the crash at Roswell. Also the 4602d Air Intelligence Service Squadron to covertly retrieve anything ET-foreign technology related. There's a long list of UFO incursions at sensitve nuclear installations. Robert Hastings has done some good research in that area. www.ufohastings.com/

Roswell was a real ufo event based on 100% historical facts. The fact that there was a thunderstorm in the area and eyewitnisess reported see strange lights. The fact that Kenneth Arnold started the whole thing on June 24th, 1947 with a sighing of a formation of 9 ufo's over the stateof Washington. After the storm a rancher by the name of Mac Brazel found some strange material and to it to the Caswell county sheriff who inturn called the 509th. Army Airfield in Roswell and we know for a fact that two men were dispatched The material collected could not have been a balloon because there's no logical reason to send the material to Ft. Worth, Tx and Gen. Ramey and already arranged for the press to be there. And who was the brillant person they called in to indentify the mysterious material. Was it a famous scientist that was in the area at that time. Was it a nuclear scientist that worked on the Manhatten Project. Was it an expert in metals. Noit was the local weather guy that just happened to be on duty that day and he was able to instantly reaconize the material as nothing more than aluminum foil. But somehow all the people at the 509th. were somehow duped into thinking that the obvious aluminum foil peices that were shown in the fake photos because the press would never have been there, was a alien craft capable of interstellar flight. RIGHT! Following that we had President Truman authorizing the Majectic 12 group on Sept 24th. 1947. Followed by programs called Project Moondust, Project Grudge, Project Sign and Project Bluebook all at taxpayers expense. And maybe some of the vets out there (I'm 61 years old) can explain to me that when reseaching my own military records through thr natioinal archives they talked about the mysterious fire that occured in July 13th, 1973 that destroyed 90% of all air force personnel discharged on Sept.25th, 1947. One day after President Truman authorized the MJ-12 group. Move along people. Nothing to see here. There's no cover up. A weatherman, Really? That is the best you could come up to indenify the biggest scientific discovery in the history of mankind with the press there and he looked at the material and laughed and said it this your ufo. And let's not forget his own words from a Roswell debunker moran in 1997 that said he recieved a call from Gen. Ramey's office and basically blew them off. And then he said that Gen. Ramey himself called and ordered him to get his ass over there and steal a car if you have to. Gee, I guess his hormores weren't flying off the chart at that moment because he said in his own words that when thry openrd the doot yo Rsmey's office hr chucked and said is this your UFO because according to his own words, he was able to instantly identify the obvoius aluminum foiled that somehow duped all the people at the 509th. WOW! Nothing to see here people. There's no coverup. I found it odd that the History Channel in 2003 was able to obtain 13 boxes from Roswell including a prestine Project Mogul aluminum foil radar reflector that any 5 year old could idenify but somehow all the people at the 509th. were completely clueless. They just couldn't indentify simple aluminum foil so the material had to be sent to Ft. Worth, Tx, Ft. Riley, Ks and Wright Field in Dayton. All over aluminum foil. R I G H T! Just another goddamn lie from this country. I found it odd that since this corrupt government ended the offical ufo investigations in 1969 that the Air Force came up with it's own investigation in 1997 and concluded it was a top secret ballooon. Well let me tell all the uninformed out there, Top secret aircraft do not fly at low altitude and hover over heavily populated areas EVER! GOT IT? There is not one top secret aircraft that can be attribuated to ufo"s NOT ONe. No U-2 or SR-71 Blackbird accounts for not one ufo sighting in this country or anywhere else. I guess the absoulety stupid American people have no clue what's going just like the sattellite shoot down hoax from a few years ago and the phoney threat from Hydrazine gas. Is there anyone out there with a brain? Someone who understands solid rockets or logic. I really doubt if intelligent people insists anymore that are capable of rational thought. I don't see it anywhere whether it's the news leading the blind or people that don't understand how solid fuel rockets work or the difference between liquid and solid fuel. But I'm sure you nknow what's Snookie's doing. I can't wait until I retire in November and move to the woods because I can't stand morans and this Pucked up religious world based on nothing destroying our world. I don't want to see one goddamn thing having to do with religion. That I pay for on my cable. It is the worst ideaology ever conceived by mankind based on absolutely nothing and it's destroying our world. And this stupid bullyogert about ghosts is completely absurd and based on nothing but people's fears and advertizing. I hope someone with a brain will contact me.

Roswell was a pretty bad cover-up. It's the reason why it's so controversial. Another theory why ET's could be crashing is because of a war between aliens in outer space. The planet earth could be neutral since it harbors life and the population is not much of threat to whomever is in dispute. But that's just a theory. There are UFO/CE3 landing cases involving repair.

Wow Tommy1950, that was a long post. And despite your use of the phrase 100% real historical facts, the one thing that is definitely not a 100% real historical fact is that an ET space ship crashed at Roswell. You have heard from all of the "witnesses" that end up in books, but do you ever read the testimony of the thousands of Elderly people in Roswell who remember absolutely nothing unusual about that day in 1947? Or even better, the testimony of the soldiers who went out to clean up the sight? Almost all of them laugh at the stories of bodies and cover ups. In fact, except for the weather and the fact that some kind of debris was foud on Mack Brasil's farm, almost nothing about the incident is a fact. Roswell is far more myth than fact. The real FACT is that we will probably never know what actually crashed at Roswell, and that one theory is just as good as another. Personally, I think it was probably a balloon, just like the Air Force says it was. I know that isn't nearly as fun, but I also have never seen any good substantial evidence to the contrary. I am not saying you shouldn't believe what you believe, don't call something a 100% historical fact unless it actually is a fact.

waitea, The one thing that tells me that Roswell wasn't just a balloon, and that's the call to the Mortician at Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell. Go back and look at the questions he said he was asked. It tells me that someone or something had died. His responses were logical to what he was being asked. I would have assumed that there had been a lost of life of children in either an automobile or aviation accident. I say this because I'm in the same field that Mr. Dennis was. If he was correct, that alone would rule out a balloon or other unmanned craft. Regardless of his testimony about the nurse that did seem suspicious, I do beleive that he received a call of this nature frome the base, and did assume that children had been killed. And, this comes back to my thought that someone or something did die near Roswell.

The Roswell AlienDrawing included with Dennis' affidavit by artist Walter Henn, based on Dennis' recollections of drawings originally made by the alleged Roswell nurse.

I tend to lean to a UFO crash in Roswell based on the report of the Military first on scene and i quote an article "The first story reported that the Intelligence Officer of the 509th Bomb Group, stationed at Roswell AAF, Major Jesse A. Marcel, had recovered a "flying disc" from the range lands of an unidentified rancher in the vicinity of Roswell and that the disc had been "flown to higher headquarters." That same story also reported that a Roswell couple claimed to have seen a large unidentified object fly by their home on July 2, 1947. " only to be changed several days later to the weather balloon story. Also for the reports of bodies being found in the wreckage, the governments story of crash test dummies is obsured since they did not start that program for almost a decade later.

GCOM1, I tend to agree that something beyond the ordinary crashed near Roswell back in 1947. However, regardless of where anyone stands on the subject, there is one thing that we should all agree on, and that's the way our citizens were treated in a democractic society, and how there (meaning our) basic civil rights were violated by our government. That is the most disturbing aspect of the entire affair.

What's interesting is that people want to keep the memory of the Roswell incident alive even though it happened back in the 1940's amid too much speculation and fantasy. Why haven't we the public been contacted openly by these so called space beings or aliens and why does every case seem to be an isolated one which when investigated is disected into so many could-uh, would-uh, should-uh, the governments hiding something theories like 'Area 51'. Why have'nt these so called extraterrestials simply acknowledeged themselves and approach us in a simple fashion...i.e... 'Hi I'm Marty the Xenophobe from planet Zygo in the Horse Head Nebulae what's your name? Why all the cloak and dagger and mystery? If Ancient Alien Theorists are correct and these space beings did reveal themselves in the past to many of our older civilizations around the world why would they now be intentionally hiding fron us?

Maybe because as a culture we are not as open as were the ancient civilizations. Back in the day they were seen as gods and worshipped now adays with every countries fingers on the button perhaps they feel that we as a whole are not mature enough for open direct contact. I mean take a look at much of the great structures from around the world that still to this day baffel scientists as to how they were built in those ancient of times and by such primitive peoples.
