I would like to revisit questions that pop up from time to time.
They are: 1. What types of investigations are being done? 2. What types of equipment are being used (or modified)? 3. What data is collected and have you come to any conclusions?
I am sure others are interested in the investigations being done by the 'rank n file'.
I am collecting data using sighting information and categorizing (shapes, states, etc.) into simple Excel spreadsheets. I am looking for patterns thru state sightings based on time of year and other data. This may go nowhere, but it is what I am interested in doing. So far no discernible patterns have appeared.
I have read of others doing abduction investigations, but have not heard of any results. I and many others would be interested in what you are doing and your results. I am hoping collaborations may start-groups of like minded individuals-or make additions to existing groups through this process.
I have started, let us know-What are you doing?
Since this forums focus is UFOs, if you chose to participate kindly stay with UFO investigations.
Thanks

I'm seeing mostly "vague lights in the sky" sightings. Primarily without any supporting evidence available. There hasn't been much data to "collect" as such. A couple photos and a video here and there (that Marc Dantonio has been kind enough to inspect for me on occasion). Through use of Stellarium, Google Earth, and LiveATC.net, most have been identified as almost certainly stars, planes, chinese lanterns, etc. So, as far as equipment, mostly an 8 year old computer and the Internet. :-)
I have a couple of good boomarang sightings that are unexplained, but left no evidence. For some reason, boomarang sighting people seem really hesitant to talk about it, and usually don't return calls/e-mails after the inital contact. Have not decided what that means yet.
The ones that I've been able to identify have almost universally had great response and involvement from the people that saw them.
There's of course the rare crazy person too. There may be something valid in their stories somewhere, but good luck picking it out. :-(
Conclusions so far are that: - People really do mistake simple objects more often than one would believe possible. - There's most likely more than one type of object that we can't explain with information available to us (in a general sense, not as in information specific to a case).

To answer mlapage's excelent questions; I give the following response. 1. Currently I am not an investigator as financial circumstances limit my abilities in this field, but I am highly interested in the creation of a team of vehicles and staff to investigate all aerial phenomena to include such seemingly different visuals as tornado's and UFOs. In that category I include electrical phenomena such as sprites and ball lightening amongst many others. Uses a fleet of three to four vehicles I plan on recording and studying the results of 3D cubed air space around UFO hot spots and other areas of interest as they may occur to see if I can capture radar and video evidence of extra terrestrial craft or a good explanation of what caused the perception of a UFO. 2. Equipment used would be far ranging but basically everything from an ex-military all terrain vehicle rebuilt to record field observations and collect physical evidence to the standard field report form from observers. See my MUFON Tracker posting and other posts in the science and technology section for more detail. 3. The data collected would be 3D real-time data of a cube of airspace. This would be both weatherband phased array radar and multi spectral, multi speed visuals (Camera) of the cube in question. This is to scientifically answer the question of what is it that was observed. Atmospherics, Psychological misinterpretations or abnormal manipulations, ET"S, Military equipment, Trans-dimensional phenomena or something else etc... The list goes on, but we would know what category to put it in at the very least and it could be reviewed by multiple parties after the fact.
One of the main reasons for this is that the bulwark of information, sighting etc… to date is so vast and well documented that we have a paradoxical problem of believability in anything. The only conclusions that can be derived to date from this bulwark is that there is a significant percentage of data that can not be accounted for as to what it was. This is very problematic as no one really believes the government any more so disclosure while nice would really not accomplish anything. People also want more than just a sharp picture or a government rep blabbing to get over their religious biases and other hang-ups. After all they have been to a galaxy far far away and seen ET blow up the White house over and over. A lot of younger people today would probably like to help! So a sharp picture of the Millennium Falcon gets us nowhere.
What my collected evidence is trying to provide is a scientifically and peer reviewed answer to what it is that is being observed by humans today. More importantly, though is hopefully the answer of how it was observed in the first place biologically. In short I believe that the science collected would advance and really open up the field of observational psychology as well as UFOlogy.
