I'm new to the board.
I was a Police Officer on the Los Angeles Police Dept. when around 1972 I observed an incident that made me a believer. Two Officers in a Radio Car went in pursuit of a UFO in the Hollenbeck Division. I was working in an office on the sixth floor and my unit was monitoring the pursuit on the police radio. It was early evening. I was leaving the office and going to dinner at around 730PM and took the elevator to the basement level and observed these two officers being led into the station by men in suits, most likely detectives. They had each officer by the arms and were walking them toward the back of the building. One of the Officers (JW) turned me and made eye contact and stated, "It was as big as a house". He repeated it. He was wild eyed as he spoke to me. I didn't know either Officer but JW ended up working for me three years later when I transferred into his division as a Sergeant. I found him to be a very level headed and fine Officer. He would not discuss the incident. One day years later when I was his supervisor I was handing out mail at roll call and gave him a letter from South Africa, no doubt something about the UFO incident. He didn't even open it and tossed it in the trash. The Los Angeles Times hid this incident on the back page of the paper and gave it one very small paragraph. The Officers even had pictures of the bright object they chased.
A couple of years ago I reported this to Mufon and the case was assigned to an investigator. No new material was discovered as far as I know.
From that night on I knew.
