Maybe MUFON should keep the Karma! I am a member of a USGS group where we use a similar thing. The more posts we put, the higher it gets. (Along with the stars) Such as...
Earthquake: Micro, Minor, Moderate, Strong, etc.
Also, did anybody notice yet that the threads don't recognize MUFON as correct spelling?
Other than that, I love it here! I can talk to others who people believe are nuts too! (he, he, he!)

yes. I looked into it and it is a useful tool. It will help us manage the boards when it gets crowded.

The old MUFON Board hid the "Karma" function. From what I heard, this was done because of arguments over the "karma" and to make everyone on the board equals.
On Open Minds Forum, we hide the "smite" button.
Paratopia Forum uses both buttons and people get smited there on a regular basis.
I prefer that neither of the buttons are used on the forum but, if you are going to use it, then I think the "smite" button should be removed. While the exalt can cause jealousy and competiveness, the smite can be used to hurt another poster by taking away his/her karma points, even if there is no reason at all for the action except that the person did not like the poster's views, religion, ethnicity, gender, etc. This makes for a very hostile posting environment.
