Brookings Institution report entitled "Peaceful Uses of Outer Space"

In that report, the Brookings Institution recommended prohibition of disclosure, with a warning against the revelation of the existence of extraterrestrial life to the people of America or the world. Brookings Institution thinkers feared social, economic and religious upheaval would result. The Brookings Institution's conclusions were based on the now famous events, which transpired more than 68 years ago, the public reaction to Orson Wells' radio broadcast of "The War of the Worlds" and the local panic that ensued.

The RAND Corporation produced a short internal document titled "UFOs: What to Do?", published in November 1968. The paper gave a historical summary of the UFO phenomenon, talked briefly about issues concerning extraterrestrial life and interstellar travel, presented a few case studies and discussed the phenomenological content of a UFO sighting, reviewed hypotheses, and concluded with a recommendation to organize a central UFO report-receiving agency and conducting more research on the phenomenon.

I think the Brookings advice on disclosure is right. Let's face it, even in the 21st century, humanity as a whole is about equal to a not so bright 3rd grader. Doesn't mean we're "bad" just not very grownup, mature, intelligent yet. If I were the president of a country I'd never let it be known that ET's exist.

It would definitely be a cultural and geopolitical game changer but the truth has a way of coming out whether you like it or not. That's just life. What's real is real and you can't change that.

The intelligentsia keeps hammering us that education will solve all problems. How much more education can your achieve than a PHD in quantum physics? These were used by Wall Steet Hedge funds to program computers for derivatives that caused alot of financial destruction without consequence to the responsible individuals. Even the MIT math department was criticized by John Reed, chairman of the Board at MIT, and former Citicorp CEO and Chairman. Watch PBS Moyers & Company on "How Big Banks Are Rewriting the Rules of Our Economy" and "Crony Capitalism" to understand what is really going on. Human existence will not be that long in the scheme of things. So people holding on to the past part of a cover-up are just wasting their. Think of all the cultures and religions that have come and gone. We are no exception to that rule. Yes, culture would change once the cat is out of the bag but that's nothing new. To me the whole national security thing and protecting people from the truth is very primitive and cult like behavior. Do we really need to be the Jonestown cult of the Galaxy? I don't think so.

The disclosure of an entity living underground with millions of years of evolution ahead of us, that we are subject to extinction or mass annihilation from extraterrestrial phenomena and that they don't want to communicate would create a conundrum. We live in a fantasy world. Hollywood might work something out.
Why should they tell us anything, they are not our fools. My personal experience in satellite communications is that the business is run by psychopaths giving orders to neanderthal yes men. The oldest guy told me "I thought you were crazy when you told me all this on the phone 6 months ago, but you were the only one that told me the truth". At the other end of the spectrum, I was called in to meet the VP head of engineering one on one and he told me "We though you were crazy but your right". The biggest problem I've had is with the head of personnel. Typical narcissistic psychopath who turned my stomach. They are not about to give these people the keys to heaven no matter how cute and cuddly they may appear to be.

The reason governments hold back information about UFOs is mainly the reaction of religious people to the idea that there is intelligent life on other planets. If there were a disclosure of actual communication between us and aliens, the religious people would think that it is a scam to discredit their beliefs in god. Such aliens might be able to tell us a lot about the origins of "gods" and might also have eyewitness accounts of what actually transpired in ancient times.
