He is generally considered (by others) to be a fraud and misinterpreter of facts. I do not doubt that he may be a good writer, and his cover art and titles are always eye-catching, I just haven't heard anything good about him until now.

I have not read his book yet, but I just love this man the way he presents his theories. Mind you he has lots of evidence too. But of course the science community doesn't buy his speculations.
As lemon suggested, those who advocate ancient alien astronauts are misinterpreter of facts.
If you are really serious with egyptology and ancient cities, read the books of Kara Cooney.

Found another oldie by Erich von Danikens called Chariots of the Gods. My fav from the book WAS GOD AN ASTRONAUT?"" ;D MOST OF HIS CAN BE SEEN ON ACIENT ALIEN OF THE WEEKENDS In relation to von Daniken's books, keep in mind that he was convicted of fraud and that even among ufologists that are inclined to accept that extraterrestrials may be visiting the Earth, the evidence relied upon by supporters of the Ancient Astronaut Theory is regarded as extremely weak. For example, Jerome Clark (author of the massive “UFO Encyclopedia”) has written that Von Daniken, in common with other writers about ancient astronauts, “can only be called a peddler of pseudoscience”. The flaws in the material relied upon can generally be grouped into one of the following categories: (1) Exaggeration of the technology required to produce an ancient artifact or monument, often coupled with a dismissal of ancient human’s abilities and efforts. In short, many of those that support the Ancient Astronaut Theory appear to dismiss humans as stupid. (2) Misinterpretation of old records and artifacts, often involving taking these items out of context by ignoring the relevant culture. (3) Outright fraud, fabrication and forgery. All the best, Isaac

Ever wonder why the media is propagating this endless disinformation ... which at times seems like 24x7?

Ever wonder why the media is propagating this endless disinformation ... which at times seems like 24x7? Because people want to watch it and tv channels make money based on the number of viewers? TV channels are in business to make money, not to educate the public.

rike, there are things on these TV series that sometimes make you think. And that critical thinking pushes you to dig deeper to find the truth. I was amazed when they connect the three pyramids in egypt with the three stars on the belt of Hercules I think (the orion) And connect them again with the three mountains on mars??? Coincidence??? And speaking of history channel, i was watching again UFO hunters, and to my dismay they could not even pin point right away that the object they were seeing is obviously a helicopter. It is nice to know that there is such organization as PRUFO. An organization that collects information from policemen regarding personal ufo sightings. One of the policemen in the show seems legit. YOu can seee it from his physical and psychological behavior, the way he relates his narratives and the "evidence" on the sight that he is telling a good story.
