June 24th 1947 will always be remembered as the day Kenneth Arnold spotted 9 flying objects and in describing them called them "Flying Saucers"
So World UFO Day was created to raise awareness that we are not alone in the universe.
Does anyone know of any events that are held outside of the continental U.S. to commemorate this day?

I've never heard of any, but it strikes me as quite a coincidence that the US Air Force was formed as a separate branch in 1947.

I've never heard of any, but it strikes me as quite a coincidence that the US Air Force was formed as a separate branch in 1947. As a 14 year member of the USAF, I never gave that a thought until you just mentioned it. I think I am going to look into this and see if there are any points that might support the timing of that.
