There are two types of abductions: #1. You are chosen from an early age based on your family tree. It's more of a genetics thing. A person is kind of like a dog pedigree. Aliens are very selective about who they choose. People part of these abductions are effected for life and so are their children. They usually have a UFO + missing time episode and discover later in life that they are abductees and its been occurring throughout their life. The type of aliens are The Greys. See: Faces Of The Abductees and Jesse Long, Jr.#2. Chance encounter. Occasionally a person, usually during a close encounter, is abducted and examined by humanoid aliens. Some of these people are rejected due to their age or the ETs find something undesirable about them. In these types of situations you have to be at the right place at the right time. The aliens in these cases are humanoid but vary in appearance. See. Kelly Cahill, Alfred Burtoo, Carl HigdonCarl Higdon, 41-years-old, and wife, Margery, in November 1974. Don't drink, don't smoke, don't like to harm any creature...

Unless the children think the parents are just plain crazy. Then the aliens seem to leave them alone. The only sure fire trait of an alien abductee is that they believe in alien abduction. I have yet to meet one who doesn't.

Bacchus Marsh, Victoria - Grace Askew
at th 4:40 mark it says "one night they were awoken by the distress of their 15 year old son."
The proper term would be multi-generational abductions. The abductee has offspring and their children are abducted. The husband for example may not be an abductee like in the case above.
